The north Devon coastline has long been recognised as one of the most magnificent stretches of cliff and beaches in the South West. Woolacombe Beach has over four miles of golden sands and is only three miles from these two charming semi-detached cottages. The Owners live next door in the main house at Buttercombe Barton, but guests will be very private. Set in some 18 acres of lovely grounds, guests are welcome to explore but do take care with children around the wildlife ponds and small stream. The Owners also keep chickens, as well as friendly Springer spaniels – sure to be a hit with the children. In addition to the sandy beaches and bracing clifftop walks, Exmoor is close by. Enjoy a day exploring the sweeping hills and wooded valleys, returning to the welcome of Buttercombe Barton in the evening. These cottages have a private water supply, which is tested regularly.

Tawny Cottage is found beyond Swallow Cottage’s garden and again is very comfortable. Slightly smaller than its neighbour, there is an open plan living-room on the ground floor and three bedrooms and the bathroom upstairs. The living-room furniture is centred around an attractive fireplace and there is a fitted kitchen-area at one end. The garden, past the wall of Swallow Cottage’s garden, has lots of space for everyone to relax and looks down over the Owners’ grounds to the countryside beyond.
