On the edge of Exmoor National Park lies Week Cottage, dating back to the 1690s. Set within two acres, adjoining the Owners’ home but completely self-contained (on the far left in the photograph), it has its own patio-area and gently sloping garden. Inside is all picture-book olde worlde charm. A spacious entrance porch – perfect for muddy boots, or even a muddy dog – leads into the compact galley-style kitchen and sitting/dining-room beyond. Two comfortable armchairs face the wood-burner, and the original quarry tiled floors have been scrubbed, cleaned and covered with soft rugs. Up the steep stairs is the pretty bedroom (take care with the low door lintel) and a well-fitted bathroom. Don your walking boots, grab the dog’s lead and stride off over the moors, returning in the evening to this cosy welcoming retreat. Satellite television is provided for your enjoyment, but why not take the opportunity to relax with a book or luxuriate in a hot bath instead? The water is from a private supply (tested regularly).
