Stroma is a beautiful semi-detached house perched above the cove at Port Isaac (see top photograph – Stroma is in the middle of the terrace), overlooking Port Gaverne and its sheltered beach. With stunning sea views from the main sitting-room and from four of the bedrooms, the views stretch out beyond Castle Rock across the bay towards Tintagel and, on a clear day, over the sea to Lundy Island. Stroma promises a holiday where you can forget the car for the duration of your stay. Port Isaac is very much a thriving fishing village, with shops, restaurants, pubs and fresh fish in plentiful supply. Just think how rested you will be after a week of waking to the sounds of the sea, a quick dip in the mornings down on the shores of Port Gaverne, followed by a brisk walk into the village to buy the supplies for the day. You will be easily distracted by the enticing shops whose wares range from locally-written stories of Seagulls to flamboyant clothes. When you return to Stroma, you will find a sympathetically restored period home furnished with flair, ideal for friends and family to holiday together. The large open plan living-room is beautifully furnished with painted floors and deep cosy sofas surrounding the dramatic marble fireplace, with the views acting as a constantly changing backdrop. Overlooking the little patio-area, the French dining-table provides an alternative formal dining-area to the kitchen-area, where old slate floors, beech worktops and bespoke kitchen units complement this large family room. Upstairs, the bedrooms are divided on two floors, all decorated in neutral tones and pretty bed linens. The bathrooms are anything but Edwardian, with travertine tiles and one with a free-standing bath! Outside to the front of Stroma, the ship-shaped decking will provide hours of coast watching whilst the terraced garden (please take care on the steps) is to the rear. Nearby there are wonderful beaches and the surfing centre of Polzeath, with some of Cornwall’s most popular attractions, within a short distance. Please note that the changeover times are 4pm on arrival and 10am on departure.
