With shared use of a hot tub, sauna and heated swimming pool (indoor, but retractable walls and roof enable it to be open-air in hot weather) and only minutes from sandy beaches and National Trust land, this is a wonderful holiday location. Carnethic House is an elegant Regency house divided into six stylish apartments, set in award-winning communal gardens on the edge of the sailing town of Fowey. The lawns slope down to the south-facing patio that runs the length of The Garden Apartment, where you can linger over leisurely meals around the large teak table. The standard of the apartment speaks for itself, with oak flooring, leather sofas, wireless broadband, under-floor heating in the bathrooms, and a large wall-mounted plasma television in the sitting-area together with smaller flat screen televisions in each bedroom, fully warranting its five star VisitBritain tourism award. The town and harbour are a leisurely stroll away, especially popular during the Daphne du Maurier literary festival and Fowey Royal Regatta week. The Eden Project and Charlestown Harbour are easily accessible, or take the Bodinnick ferry to explore the coast further east.
